About the Journal
PIWELING: Journal of Pedagogy, Interdisciplinary and Workforce Learning is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality research at the intersection of pedagogy, curriculum, educational technology, and workforce learning. The journal aims to advance evidence-based understanding of how learning, teaching, and human capital development are designed, implemented, and evaluated to address current and future demands of the world of work. PIWELING especially welcomes innovative and interdisciplinary studies that connect educational theory with real-world practice in schools, universities, training institutions, industries, and other workplace settings
Aims and Scope
1. Pedagogy & Curriculum Development
Focuses on contemporary pedagogy and curriculum design across vocational, professional, and higher education. Topics include work-oriented and competency-based curriculum development, alignment between curricula and labor market needs, innovative teaching and learning strategies (such as project-based learning, problem-based learning, and apprenticeship models), as well as curriculum evaluation that measures graduates' employability and professional readiness.
2. Workforce Learning & Human Capital
Explores how learning occurs in workplace, industry, and community settings, and how it contributes to human capital development. Topics include workplace learning and work-integrated learning, corporate training, upskilling and reskilling programs, learning organization and organizational learning culture, as well as psychological and behavioral aspects of professional learning such as motivation, career adaptability, and competence development.
3. Educational Technology & Innovation
Focuses on educational technology and digital innovation that connect pedagogy with workforce and professional learning. Topics include technology-enhanced vocational and workplace learning (such as virtual reality, augmented reality, simulators, and learning labs), digital and e-learning platforms (including blended learning, micro-learning, and online corporate training), and the use of learning analytics and artificial intelligence for personalizing learning and assessing professional competencies.
4. Interdisciplinary Educational Studies
Invites interdisciplinary manuscripts that combine education with other fields such as economics, sociology, psychology, policy studies, and management, as long as they clearly relate to pedagogy and workforce learning. Topics include economics and policy of education and training, the impact of education and training on labor markets and social mobility, social and cultural dimensions of learning and work (including issues of inequality, gender, and inclusion), and interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex problems in education-to-work transitions..
