Reviewers

PITUDUH: Journal of Physical Education, Human Development and Health Studies depends on the voluntary expertise of reviewers to safeguard the scholarly quality of everything it publishes. All manuscripts are evaluated through double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the process.

Reviewer Criteria

Reviewers are selected on the basis of demonstrated expertise rather than seniority alone. The journal looks for:

  • A doctoral degree, or a master's degree accompanied by a substantial publication record, in physical education, sport science, health science, or a closely related field
  • Recent peer-reviewed publications in the reviewer's declared area of expertise
  • Familiarity with the research designs common to the field, including experimental, quasi-experimental, survey, qualitative, mixed-methods, and systematic review or meta-analytic approaches
  • No conflict of interest with the authors, their institution, or the funding source of the work under review

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Confidentiality. Manuscripts under review are privileged communications. Reviewers must not share, cite, or use the content for any purpose before publication.
  • Objectivity. Assessments must address the work, not the author. Criticism should be specific, evidence-based, and constructive.
  • Timeliness. Reviews are expected within 14 days of acceptance of the invitation. Reviewers unable to meet this window should decline promptly so the manuscript is not delayed.
  • Declaration of competing interests. Any financial, personal, or professional interest that could bias the assessment must be declared before accepting an invitation.
  • Integrity alerts. Suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, duplicate submission, or undeclared conflicts must be reported to the editor rather than raised directly with the author.
  • No use of generative AI. Manuscripts must not be uploaded to public AI tools, since doing so breaches confidentiality.

What Reviewers Assess

  • Originality and contribution to knowledge in the journal's field
  • Clarity of the research problem, objectives, and theoretical framing
  • Appropriateness and rigour of the methodology, sampling, instruments, and analysis
  • Soundness of the results and whether the conclusions follow from the evidence presented
  • Ethical compliance, including ethics approval and informed consent where human participants are involved
  • Quality, currency, and adequacy of the references
  • Clarity of language and adherence to the journal's author guidelines

Recommendation Options

Reviewers conclude with one of four recommendations: Accept Submission, Revisions Required, Resubmit for Review, or Decline Submission. The recommendation is advisory; the final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Recognition

The journal publishes an annual acknowledgement of reviewers and, on request, issues a letter of appreciation that can be used for academic credit or professional certification. Reviewers are encouraged to record their contributions on ORCID.
