Withdrawal of Manuscript

Submitting a manuscript to PITUDUH: Journal of Physical Education, Human Development and Health Studies is understood as a commitment to publish with the journal if the manuscript is accepted. Withdrawing a submission consumes editorial and reviewer effort that has already been given, and is therefore permitted only under the conditions set out below.

Withdrawal Before Review Begins

A manuscript may be withdrawn without penalty at any point before reviewers have been assigned. The corresponding author should send a written request through the journal platform or the editorial office, signed on behalf of all authors, stating the reason.

Withdrawal During Peer Review

Once reviewers have been assigned, withdrawal requires the approval of the Editor-in-Chief and a clear, verifiable reason. Acceptable reasons include the discovery of a substantive error in the data or analysis, an unresolved authorship dispute, or an institutional or legal restriction that emerged after submission. Dissatisfaction with reviewer comments, or a wish to submit elsewhere for a faster decision, is not an acceptable reason.

Withdrawal After Acceptance

After a manuscript has been accepted it is regarded as part of the journal's publication programme. Withdrawal at this stage is granted only in exceptional circumstances, such as the discovery of a serious error that cannot be corrected, or a legal or ethical impediment to publication. Requests must be made in writing by all authors.

Withdrawal After Publication

A published article cannot be withdrawn. Where an article is found to be unreliable, the matter is handled through the journal's Retraction, Correction, and Expression of Concern policy, which preserves the scholarly record rather than erasing it.

How to Request a Withdrawal

  1. The corresponding author submits a written request through the journal platform or to the editorial office.
  2. The request must state the manuscript ID and title, the reason for withdrawal, and confirmation that all co-authors agree.
  3. The editorial office acknowledges receipt within three working days.
  4. The Editor-in-Chief issues a decision, ordinarily within ten working days.
  5. A manuscript remains under consideration until a written approval of withdrawal has been issued. It must not be submitted elsewhere before that point.

Unauthorised Withdrawal

Withdrawing a manuscript without approval, or submitting the same manuscript to another journal while it is still under consideration here, constitutes duplicate submission. In such cases the journal may:

  • decline to consider future submissions from the authors for a period of up to two years;
  • notify the authors' institution and the other journal concerned;
  • record the incident in accordance with COPE guidance on simultaneous submission.

Costs

The journal currently levies no submission or article processing charge, so no fee is refundable or payable in connection with a withdrawal. See Author Fee for the current position.
